In 1990, two higher educational professionals, Antonio Aponte and Pedro Gonzalez, saw that too few Latino students in New York City were pursuing college as a serious option and decided to do something about it. They recognized the need to expose students to more options in higher education and help link them to colleges and universities eager to enroll them. The vehicle they chose was an annual college fair and the Latino College Expo was born. Since its formation, the Latino College Expo has grown to include:

Latino students share the same hope that people of all classes and backgrounds share-hope for a better life for themselves and our families.   Hope for the opportunity to go as far as our dreams will take us.  And education is the key to that future.
